Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Leah, but most know me by my virtual brand tag of Leahlostheart. Ever since I was little I had a strong love of science, animals and art, however, at the young age of 16 I had to decide on my future career path as I was about to enter college, leaving my secondary school life behind.
After discussions with my family and some of my teachers, I chose to pursue a career in Forensic Science, on the other hand, I still kept a strong passion for art and drawing, but I never realised you could make a full time career from it. Fast forward to two years later, coming to the end of my Forensics qualification, and I realised that I preferred watching CSI than being one myself; so what to do from here? If I don't want to be a Forensic Scientist, then what do I want to be? A common trend I noticed throughout my notebooks was that there was often an equal amount of drawings and doodles to accompany each note made, which brought me back to my artsy roots. Was there a career for me in art however? Could I turn it into a career? If so, then how?
That was when I discovered animation, the possibility to create characters with a story, and bring them to life! So once I completed my forensics course I joined an animation course and haven't looked back. I spent two years studying it at college level before graduating and moving onto university, where I further dived into the world of animation; consuming all the knowledge I could about the subject. I have now graduated from university, achieving a 2:1 BA Honors in Digital Animation, and I am in the process of progressing into the creative industry, into the role of a concept artist or character designer through applying for various jobs while also working to increase my artistic skills. This blog is here to record and show my progression from student to industry professional with a few fun things along the way; I hope you enjoy reading about my journey just as much as I enjoy travelling along it!
